It’s been rumored that Starbucks’ “Drinks” increase milk supply. Not all of their beverages – but the colorful secret menu items named the Pink Drink, Violet Drink and Dragon Drink.
Is that true?
While they are incredibly delicious, I personally haven’t seen a substantial uptick in supply. But, the Drinks do have coconut milk, which is full of hydrating electrolytes.
Regardless, the ingredients are MSPI-friendly, so I love treating myself to these fruity, summery treats.
The Dragon Drink is my personal favorite. Courtney Elizabeth created a YouTube video demoing how to recreate it. Her recipe is spot-on for flavor, though it lacks the caffeine and tea of Starbuck’s original recipe.
I built upon Courtney’s recipe, packing in additional flavor and including an ingredient guaranteed to help with milk supply. Check it out!
Mother of the Dragon Drink Recipe
Makes ~24 ounces (venti)
- 1 1/2 cups Silk original coconut milk
(or mix 1/2 container canned coconut milk if you want a creamier take with more coconut flavor)
- 1/2 cup Mother’s Milk tea, brewed and chilled
(Mother’s Milk tea has a strong licorice taste, so I don’t like to let the tea brew too long. Not breastfeeding? Skip this ingredient or sub passion fruit tea!)
- 2 cups Ocean Spray CranMango juice (sub Juicy Juice mango for flavor more similar to Starbucks’)
- 1-2 pumps vanilla syrup
- 1/2 tablespoon dragonfruit powder
Note: if you prefer a stronger coconut milk, juice, or tea flavor, you can adjust the proportions to taste.
- Mix all of the ingredients together.
- Blend mixture in the Bullet (this helps the dragonfruit powder to dissolve better, but if you don’t have a blender you can just shake the mix with ice).
- Pour over ice and serve.
- Try not to drink it in 30 seconds because it’s so dang delicious!
